As a hedge against West Nile virus, the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department is planning to fog for mosquitoes in parts of Scottsdale from 10 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Sunday.

As a hedge against West Nile virus, the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department is planning to fog for mosquitoes in parts of Scottsdale from 10 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Sunday.

Trucks will spray fog in the area bordered by Thunderbird and Cactus roads and 96th Street to Loop 101.

Council to hear update on preserve strategy

At the request of Scottsdale Councilman Jim Lane, the City Council will receive an update on the city's McDowell Sonoran Preserve strategy during Monday's council meeting, which starts at 5 p.m.

The report is expected to discuss acquisition strategy and the progress to date, the funding plan including cash flow and available bonding capacity.

It is also expected to include the history of recommendations from the McDowell Sonoran Preserve Commission.

Volunteers sought to work at Taliesin West

The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is seeking volunteers to work at Taliesin West, the former north Scottsdale home and studio of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

The foundation will be hosting a volunteer fair from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Taliesin West, which is at Cactus Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard heading east.

Openings exist for docent tour guides, tour stewards, greeters, traffic controllers and events assistants.

There are also volunteer opportunities ranging from painting and grounds maintenance to researching records at Taliesin West's library.
