A single-engine aircraft crashed Monday in northwest Arizona near Wikieup, killing two men on board.

The aircraft, a Beechcraft Bonanza, was registered to a Scottsdale resident.

Trish Carter, a Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, said Monday that the names of the pair would be released today.

The plane left Henderson, Nev., about 7:15 p.m. Sunday for Scottsdale, said Allen Kenitzer, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman.

Searching for the plane began after the Mohave County Sheriff ’s Office received a call from a witness who reported seeing and hearing a plane crash, Carter said.

Low clouds and ground fog hampered the search, she said.

The plane was finally discovered in the area of the Aquarius Mountains about 25 miles northeast of Wikieup around 4:30 p.m., the sheriff’s Web site reported.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
