A third Maricopa County supervisor has been under investigation by the Sheriff's Office over funds spent on a search for illegal listening devices.

No "bugs" were ever found.

The Arizona Republic reports County Supervisor Andy Kunasek along with two county administrators have been under investigation since March 2009 for allegedly misspending public money on the search for bugs.

Sheriff's officials believe Kunasek, Deputy County Manager Sandi Wilson and County Technology Director Stephen Wetzel misspent more than $14,000 on the sweeps.

Kunasek's attorney says the Sheriff's Office abused its powers in order to cause conflicts of interest for a majority of the five-member County Board of Supervisors.
