Gov. Jan Brewer has appointed two new judges for Maricopa County.
Brewer announced Wednesday that she appointed Douglas Gerlach and Peter Thompson to the bench in Arizona's most-populous county.
Gerlach is replacing Barbara Mundell. He was previously a business attorney and took a two-year leave to serve as a public defender in the early 1990s.
Thompson has been a Maricopa County Court Commissioner since 2007 and previously was a staff attorney for the Mesa Police Department. He replaces James Keppel.
