City Councilman Sal DiCiccio has thrown his support behind Republican Martin Sepulveda for Congress.
“Martin Sepulveda is, without question, the best candidate in Congressional District 9,” DiCiccio said in a statement. “Martin and I have known each other for more than 20 years, before either of us decided to run for public office.
“As a small businessman and former member of the Chandler City Council, Martin knows how to set the conditions for private sector job creation, balance a budget and maintain fiscal responsibility. Our country is facing the worst fiscal crisis of our lifetime; consequently, we can’t afford a Congressman who lacks real-world experience.
“As a businessman, military officer and public servant, Martin has clearly displayed his integrity and courage, which will be necessary to bring fiscal responsibility to Washington. I am proud to support Martin Sepulveda for Congress.”
Sepulveda is a combat veteran, who served three tours in Iraq and a fourth in Afghanistan, and a Commander in the Navy Reserve.
Sepulveda is owner of Sepulveda Group, which specializes in commercial land development, project entitlements and project management. He has served two non-consecutive terms on the Chandler City Council from March 1995 to January 2000 and from June 2004 to January 2009.
“Sal is a true champion of the taxpayers and I’m honored to have his support,” Sepulveda said in a statement. “Sal has repeatedly proven that he has the courage to make the tough choices. As your Congressman, I will make the tough choices necessary to rein in spending, pass a Balanced Budget Amendment and bring fiscal sanity to Washington.”
Other Republicans running for CD 9 include Travis Grantham, Leah Campos Schandlbauer, Vernon Parker and Wendy Rogers.
Democrats running for the office in clude Andrei Cherny, David Schapira and Kyrsten Sinema.
