Those families looking for a more spiritual option for their kids over the summer break can find a host of options in their own backyard and, chances are, their usual place of worship.
There are camps close to home and ones that take youths to different places around Arizona. Contact your church for a more detailed version of what exactly is being offered.
At Mountain View Lutheran Church, 11002 S. 48th St., camps for kids of all ages are being offered from the end of May through July. For preschool students, there will be four separate, four-day-long camps beginning May 29 with Flying High, a camp that highlights space and astronomy. For older students, there will be the five-day-long High School Beach Camp June 18-22 in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Mountain Park Community Church, 2408 E. Pecos Road, is offering a Middle School Summer Camp that will take place in Prescott Pines June 3 to 8. The camps are hosted by the United Christian Youth Camp and is open to current sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders. The cost to attend is $335 up until May 1. The Family of Christ Lutheran Church and Learning Center, 3501 E. Chandler Blvd., will be offering Camp Amazing June 4 to July 26. The camp will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday.
St. Joseph’s Youth Camp is being offered this year in four different, six-day and six-night sessions beginning July 1. The camp takes place at Mormon Lake and the cost is $498 and includes meals, transportation and a camp DVD. To find out more information, visit www.sjycaz.com.
