Salt River Project has once again partnered with the Phoenix Fire Department in educating the public on the basics of CPR in the event of a near drowning or cardiac arrest.

Cardiovascular disease remains America’s No. 1 killer for both men and women, claiming more lives than the rest of the major causes of death combined, according to the American Heart Association.

In addition, drownings continue to claim the lives of both children and adults each year in Arizona.

SRP’s Safety Connection is distributing 15,000 copies of “CPR Awareness,” a video produced by the Phoenix Fire Department and SRP on how to perform CPR on adults, children and infants in an emergency situation.

In the video, Phoenix firefighters give step-by-step instructions on how to administer CPR in both English and Spanish. The DVD also contains water-safety tips.

The purpose of the DVD is to educate as many people as possible. The public is encouraged to get a copy and spread the lessons of CPR awareness by sharing the video with family and friends. Since 2003, SRP has distributed more than 95,000 copies.

Copies of the video are available by calling (602) 236-5646, logging on to www.srpnet.com/safety or emailing safetyconnection@srpnet.com.
