I have always believed that to volunteer for your community is one commitment every American should do at some point in their life. Not too far from volunteering in your community is serving the American people in the United States military. I have a lot of respect for those who serve our country protecting us from those who wish harm to America and the American people. My father served 24 years in the United States Air Force and my brother 30 years, both serving the American people honorably.

Travis Grantham is a congressional candidate for CD 9 and like my father and brother; Grantham currently serves the United States as an Arizona Air National Guard pilot protecting the United States and the American people.

I believe strongly that if you tell me what one does for the community, I’ll tell you what kind of person he or she is.

All too often people say they don’t have time to give back to the community, which enforces my beliefs that those who give freely are more likely to serve me and my community honorably.

Being an Air Force brat myself, I know that those who serve in the military are very disciplined people and that’s one thing Washington D. C., is missing, fiscally disciplined politicians.

Hosting the final Republican debate for CD 9 Grantham answered a question about foes who might try to challenge America and her might, his response was quick and to the point.

Grantham stated that if America goes to war he would be one of the first to volunteer as an Air National Guardsman, but would only commit to 30 days since he will be Arizona’s first congressman for CD 9. Those in attendance applauded his commitment to serve the American people.

Hosting over 30 candidates for local, county, state and national office I am always amazed by those who say they are the best candidate for Arizona and have only lived in the state for a couple or a few years at best. Grantham is a third generation Arizonan and when he talks about the needs of the Arizona voter he knows what he’s talking about.

At the Aug. 9 debate in Ahwatukee, Grantham gave the best response on his position on the proposed South Mountain Freeway, which afforded him some applause.

Grantham knew the complex nature of the proposed freeway and the Grantham family has an established relationship with the Gila River Indian Community just south of Ahwatukee and he could finally negotiate a reasonable plan for the freeway expansion where former congressmen J.D. Hayworth, Harry Mitchell and David Schweikert have failed. Ahwatukee may finally have a voice for this community with Grantham as our congressman.

As a community organizer, I do not have to follow the political party endorsement or the party’s favorite and it is without a question that I, wholeheartedly, support Travis Grantham for Congress in the 9th Congressional District.

Early voting by ballot is going on now and the primary election is Aug. 28, so don’t forget to vote.
