Ahwatukee Children's Theatre (ACT) will host its annual open house from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 14, at 5051 E. Elliot Road. Community members may register for classes, meet the staff and tour the facility.

There will be free balloons all day and lots of activities, including a make-up demonstration and drama games from 9 to 10 a.m., a meet-and-greet and dance session with the cast from the theater's production of High School Musical 2 from 10 to 11 a.m. and "ACT Idol" from 11 a.m. to noon - bring a song and perform for the judges for prizes. Everyone who attends is invited to register in the no cost raffle to win a free one hour class for one semester.

Ahwatukee Children's Theatre is in its 11th season and offers children and adults opportunities to learn about and participate in all aspects of the performing arts. The theater company produces family-friendly entertainment throughout the year. It also includes two divisions - ACT Out!, an on-site theater production program for schools without a performing arts curriculum, and ACT Up!, the performing arts program for teens and adults.
