Having a newborn is an exciting and exhausting time. To help new families rest and allow them private time, Mercy Gilbert Medical Center’s Lund Family Birth Center is implementing Naptime. From 3 to 5 p.m. daily, hospital staff will only enter patient rooms upon request. While the hospital does not restrict visitors to certain hours of the day, moms are encouraged to ask friends and family not to visit during this time.

The Lund Family Birth Center invites new moms to enjoy a cup of tea and pastries in honor of Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy and Mercy Gilbert’s sponsoring congregation who had a well-know affinity for this afternoon ritual. A video chat service is also available for families to share the birth of their child with friends and family who couldn’t make the trip. The Lund Family Birth Center is designed to allow expectant mothers and members of their immediate family to experience the birth of their baby in comfortable surroundings.
