The Phoenix City Council approved several changes Wednesday to bus service routes that will go into effect next month.
The RAPID service in Ahwatukee Foothills, the I-10 East, will see a changed Friday schedule, said Matthew Heil, a spokesman for the Phoenix Public Transit Department.
Friday schedules on all RAPID routes will change to reflect reduced passenger demand on those days.
The proposed changes save $4.3 million in operating costs for the transportation department and affect both local and RAPID commuter bus services throughout Phoenix, according to the city’s Public Transit Department.
Valley Metro bus routes going through modifications are: 1, 3, 7, 8, 10, 13, 17, 17A, 19, 27, 29, 35, 41, 43, 50, 51, 52, 59, 60, 67, 70, 90, and 154.
The I-17 RAPID-to-Rail service will also be eliminated due to low ridership.
