The Phoenix Metro Chapter of National Association of Women Business (NAWBO) will host a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at 2901 N. Seventh St. featuring a lively discussion between the Democratic and Republican candidates for statewide office.

The participants will include candidates for Treasurer Doug Ducey and Andrei Cherny, candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction Penny Kotterman and candidate for Attorney General Felecia Rotellini. Also expected are John Huppenthal, candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction; Tom Horne, candidate for Attorney General; Governor Jan Brewer; and Terry Goddard, candidate for Governor.

ABC 15 Daybreak Anchor Kirk Yuhnke will emcee the "living room discussion" and question the candidates about their positions on improving Arizona's business climate and educational system, as well as their perspectives on the role of women in restoring Arizona's economic growth. Members of the audience will also have an opportunity to ask questions of the candidates. The "living room" format will also include a brief opening statement by each candidate and a 60 second closing statement.

Prior to the luncheon (9 to 10:30 a.m.), NAWBO University will offer a special public policy program. Allison Bell, Vice President of Government Relations for the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, will discuss the legislative process whereby a bill becomes a law. Bev Harmon, a public affairs professional and former lawmaker, will discuss how to utilize grassroots lobbying techniques to benefit your business.

Registration is requested by Oct. 8 at or by calling (602) 772-4985.
