A national chain of arts and crafts stores has signed a lease to open a 55,000-square-foot store at the site of a former Circuit City in Chandler.

Hobby Lobby will open its 10th Arizona location later this year at West Chandler Boulevard and Chandler Village Drive South, just north of Chandler Fashion Center and near Loop 101.

The company is opening a Lake Havasu City location in early July.

“As we continue to establish ourselves further in Arizona as part of our nationwide expansion plan, we are excited to be part of, and share in the growth of another new community,” said John Schumacher, assistant vice president of advertising.

Hobby Lobby, a privately held company based in Oklahoma City, was founded in a garage in the early 1970s and now operates 478 stores across the nation averaging 55,000 square feet in size. Departments include floral, fabric, needlework, picture framing, baskets, home accents, arts and crafts, wearable art, jewelry and scrapbooking supplies. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and all Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sunday.
