Local brothers graduate with parents’ pride

Mountain Pointe High School graduate Garrett Frantz is 22 years old and graduates from Arizona State University on May 3, Summa Cum Laude, from the Department of Biomedical Engineering. He is being honored by Dean Johnson with the Moeur Award for having a 4.0 GPA in all of his classes while attending the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering. Garrett has participated in biomedical research throughout his engineering degree program at ASU. He has volunteered his skills and time at the Hospice of the Valley and the Virginia G. Piper Medical and Dental Clinic to help patients in need. For his many hours of community service, he was honored with a Gold Presidential Community Service Award and letter of appreciation from President Obama. This year, Garrett has accepted an invitation from the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine at Phoenix to attend their medical school program. He will be a member of the incoming class of 2012.

His brother, Ryan Frantz is 17 years old and graduates from Mountain Pointe High School on May 24 with a 4.0 GPA. He has accepted the Regents High Honors Endorsement Scholarship from Arizona State University and will major in biomedical engineering beginning this fall. Ryan has contributed many hours as a community volunteer and tutors regularly in math and science. He was awarded the Bronze Presidential Community Service Award last year for his community service. Ryan has been active during the last four years at Mountain Pointe High School in clubs, sports and other activities.

Garrett and Ryan have been supported by many wonderful friends, mentors, teachers and family members in both the Ahwatukee and Arizona communities.
