Larry Hughes has been hired to serve as interim president and chief executive officer of the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce (AFCC), effective immediately.
Hughes has been a resident of Arizona for more than 25 years and has lived and worked in Ahwatukee for over 10 years. He has more than 25 years of experience as a corporate executive in the telecommunications industry and operated the local restaurant “That Italian Place” from 2007 to 2010. Since then, Hughes has operated a small catering and dessert business and is a consultant for local restaurants.
“I have a passion for Ahwatukee and the local business community. I fully believe in supporting the local businesses and the community by whatever means possible during my time as the interim president/CEO of the AFCC,” Hughes said.
Harvey Gibson, chairman of the chamber board of directors, said: “Having Larry as interim president and CEO allows our search committee the time necessary to find the best possible candidate as our permanent president and CEO, while ensuring that it’s business as usual for the chamber’s members.”
Terri Kimble, former president and CEO of the Ahwatukee Foothills chamber, was named president and CEO of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce earlier this month. Kimble will continue to serve and transition the Ahwatukee Foothills chamber through July 5.
