The Chandler Unified School District held its spelling bee last week. The winner was Hamilton Prep Academy eighth grader Mitchell Behling, who won for the third year in a row. The runner-up was Janani Lakshmanan, a sixth grader at Conley Elementary School. Third-place winner was Ashley Nguyen, an eighth grader at Andersen Junior High.
The top nine winners will represent the district at the regional competition Feb. 17 in Gilbert at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts.
