This year the Arizona Holistic Chamber of Commerce (AZHCC) launched a new multicultural initiative to recruit business owners from the Latino, Native American, Asian, and African American cultures.

Janet Gangl, chamber president, is the architect of the restructuring of the AZHCC, which saw its membership drop from a high of 300 when it was created in 2005 to a low of about 75 members a year ago. That meant that its revenues for operating the chamber were reduced. In addition, 85 percent of the members were Caucasian, and only 35 percent were men.

"At the AZHCC you will meet people who think holistically - that they are making a living doing something they love and believe in while participating in the life transformations of their clients," Gangl said. "Money, while important and totally necessary, is actually secondary to the satisfaction of helping others.
