Authorities say a 10-year-old boy is in custody for allegedly bringing a knife to school and threatening to stab another student.
Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies were called to Frank Elementary School in Guadalupe after a 4inch knife was found in the boy's backpack Tuesday.
Deputies say the fifth-grader told them he planned to stab another boy in the stomach for "snitching."
They say the boy also brought a black beanie he planned to wear to mask his identity and allegedly tried to recruit other students to help him.
The students reported the plan to teachers. The boy's name hasn't been released.
Authorities say he's being held in the county's juvenile detention center on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disruption of an educational facility, and threatening and intimidating.
