This is submitted art from Metro of a hybrid streetcar demonstration in Charlotte, N.C. The prototype, built by Japanese manufacturer Kinkisharyo, has batteries that allow it to operate for several miles without getting power from overhead cables.

$60 million per mile. What a waste of taxpayers' money! You could dramatically enhance the Orbit and bus systems citywide in Tempe for less. You could encourage redevelopment all over Tempe for less. It is so sad that just because you can get the money from our bankrupt Federal Government it is okay to do projects like this. The redevelopment success along the light rail is overstated. The ridership of the light rail is overstated.

The whole route is already developed and doing fine except for the
strip mall at Southern and Mill, Danyell Plaza. So why in the world
are we doing this project?
It seem like a gift to the owners of the strip mall, or just another
attempt to turn the neighborhoods along mill into offsite parking
for ASU and the downtown merchants.
WE DON'T WANT THIS! WE DON'T NEED THIS!!
Its time to throw out everybody at Tempe City hall.
