Residents of and visitors to Tempe who plan to celebrate Independence Day have a few regulations to follow in order to use fireworks.
According to a press release, the Tempe City Council has banned the use of certain fireworks to prevent injuries and fires, and people who violate the ban face a minimum fine of $250.
The banned fireworks list includes ground-based sparklers in cylindrical, square, cone or rocket shapes, as well as aerial fireworks like Roman candles, firecrackers, sky rockets and bottle rockets.
The City of Tempe does allow for the use of other firework devices, such as handheld sparklers, smoke devices, party poppers, snappers and snakes.
