Tempe police say a man has been taken into custody after a shooting early Tuesday at a light-rail station.

Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Carbajal says the man is identified as 37-year-old David McKenzie. He was booked into Tempe City Jail Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault and being a prohibited possessor of a firearm.

The situation started just before 4 a.m. when a man was shot. Tempe police say the wounded man has non-life threatening injuries. It's not clear what led to the shooting.

Police found McKenzie at Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway near an apartment building.
