Interstate 10 is open to traffic in both directions Wednesday afternoon after the westbound lanes were closed for a time earlier in the day due to a rollover at the Salt River Bridge, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

All westbound traffic on I-10 was detoured onto SR 143 northbound as ADOT and the Arizona Department of Public Safety responded.

A tanker truck rolled over on westbound Interstate 10 at 24th Street Wednesday morning causing a large backup.

A Department of Public Safety spokesperson says a semi truck rear-ended a passenger vehicle, causing the truck to roll over.

According to reports, the driver of the car was trapped inside the vehicle when officials arrived.

The tanker truck is leaking fluids on the roadway, which resulted in the closure of I-10 westbound at the State Route 143 for more than two hours.
