Police want to find the person who put a driver’s license belonging to the friend of a dragging victim into a U.S. Postal Service mailbox.

Arizona State University student Kyleigh Sousa died after someone grabbed her purse and sped off in May. Police said Thursday that sometime between May 26 and June 20, someone placed the driver’s license of Sousa’s male friend in a mailbox in Phoenix. The license was taken during the robbery, when a man driving a newer model silver Chrysler 300 grabbed Sousa’s purse in the 200 block of East Apache Boulevard and sped off with it.

Sousa, 21, who was tangled in the purse straps, was dragged by the car and suffered severe injuries during the crime. She was pronounced dead hours later at a nearby hospital.

If anyone has any information about the crime, they can call Tempe police at (480) 350-8311 or Silent Witness at (480) 948-6377.
