Tempe-based Bostwick Laboratories Inc. has agreed to pay a $129,900 civil penalty for hazardous waste violations. The issue was discovered in February of 2010, when the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality’s hazardous waste inspection and compliance unit inspected Bostwick. Investigators found incomplete inspection logs, a lack of emergency plans or an emergency coordinator, a lack of training records for hazardous waste storage personnel and that the company did not make police and fire authorities familiar with its emergency procedures. The company did not register with ADEQ or pay annual fees since it began operations in 2006.

Bostwick provides laboratory services specializing in the monitoring and diagnosis of cancer. The civil penalty is subject to court approval.
