The East Valley Tribune has expanded its delivery area to include home delivery in Tempe.

“We want to re-focus on being the newspaper for the whole East Valley — and Tempe is a big part of the East Valley,” said publisher and president Randy Miller.

Miller expects home delivery to select neighborhoods in Tempe to grow to about 5,000 in a few weeks and continue to grow over time.

Miller, chairman of 1013 Communications, purchased the Tribune from Freedom Communications last March. At the time, the paper was producing four separate zoned editions in Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert and Queen Creek. The paper was not being distributed in Tempe.

After 1013 Communications assumed ownership, the Tribune returned to being one East Valley edition with single copy racks added in Tempe north of Elliot Road. Miller pointed out that the East Valley Tribune was originally formed years ago by the merging of newspapers in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler and Tempe.

Now with the Tribune’s return to Tempe, the newspaper “has distribution in every East Valley community,” Miller said.

The Tribune publishes on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with a free distribution of about 100,000 newspapers across the East Valley — 80,000 to homes and 20,000 to racks. The Tribune website — evtrib.com — provides news coverage seven days a week.
