Suspect identified in Tempe fatal stabbing

Police are looking for a man in connection with a fatal stabbing Saturday morning in Tempe.

Gordon Benson, 60, is described as a white male, 5 feet 6 inches and 140 pounds last seen wearing a grey T-shirt, black jeans and boots. He is described as clean shaven although he has facial hair in a photograph provided by police.

A vehicle Benson was driving when police said he fled the scene of the stabbing has been located and it is not known what his current mode of transport may be. Anyone with information can call Tempe police at (480) 350-8311 or Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS.

Police say the stabbing took place in the 2000 block of East Apache Boulevard, between McClintock Drive and the Loop 101 Price Freeway. The victim was identified Monday morning as Fred U. Bustamante, 47, who lived at the address.

Mesa police are investigating another fatal stabbing that also took place early Saturday at the Rawl's Motel about 3 miles away in Mesa, where Apache becomes Main Street. There is no suspect named at this time.
