A Stephen Series Caring Ministry workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 5 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1035 E. Guadalupe Road, Tempe.
Participants will attend three sessions designed to enhance caregiving skills and to help congregations explore ways to expand their caring ministries. The sessions are “Ministering to Those Experiencing Grief,” “Introduction to the Stephen Series” and “How to Care in a Distinctively Christian Way.”
Stephens Ministries is a St. Louis-based organization founded in 1975 to equip people for one-on-one lay caring ministry of outreach of listening and supporting people with medical and personal life issues — matters that people don’t handle well alone.
Joel Bretscher, director for communications for the national organization, will lead the training. More than 9,000 congregations in more than 100 denominations have used the Stephen Series.
