Tempe residents can turn their Christmas trees into compost through Jan. 22 by dropping off the pines or setting them out during bulk trash collections. All lights and decorations need to be removed before setting the trees out.
The city is accepting trees at the Household Products Collection Center, 1320 E. University Dr. or at the parking lot west of the Kiwanis Park Recreation Center, 6111 S. All-America Way. The trees are turned into compost.
Trees can also be places in residents' designated location for monthly bulky-item collection, no more than 10 days before the scheduled collection. For more information, call (480) 350-8265.
