Tempe police officials are investigating an accident involving a vehicle and two pedestrians.

The accident happened just after 8:30 a.m. in front of Wells Fargo Arena near Rural Road and University Drive.

Westbound Veteran's Way was closed for about two hours for the investigation.

Air15 video showed a vehicle stopped in the street with two places where the windshield was smashed in.

A Tempe fire official said one patient was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, the second patient's injuries were less serious.

Tempe police Sgt. Mike Pooley said the pedestrians were in a crosswalk when they were struck. He said it is unclear at this point who had the right of way.

Pooley said one of the victims was on a skateboard and the other was on foot. The skateboarder was reported to have been unconscious at the scene, but is expected to survive.

The driver did stop and is cooperating with police, Pooley said.
