Tempe police officer arrested two people in connection to a string of break-ins near Mill Avenue and Baseline.
After a month-long investigation, detectives arrested 18-year-old Chris Vega and Noah Cobbs, 18, for multiple counts of residential burglary, attempted burglary, trafficking stolen property, and trespassing, according to Tempe police.
The investigation began after patrol units started to see a trend in burglaries of second story apartments.
“These guys were climbing balconies, scaling the walls. They admitted to targeting second floor apartment because there was a good chance those doors were locked,” said Lt. Mike Pooley, Tempe PD.
During interviews both suspects admitted to details of specific burglaries they had committed and details of the specific apartments they burglarized.
The suspects even provided detectives details regarding the people they burglarized: someone who was sleeping, one showering and another who was walking around the apartment and then confronted the two suspects.
Both suspects admitted they would target only those apartments that were found to be unsecure and easily accessed.
Investigators also arrested a third person who they believe assisted in getting rid of the stolen property.
So far, police say the suspects are linked to at least six other incidents, but believe they were involved in more.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone who believes they were burglarized by these two individuals are asked to contact the Tempe Police Department.
