Raising Cane’s, a national franchise focusing almost exclusively on chicken finger meals, is preparing to open its third Valley fast-food restaurant next week — this time in Tempe at 960 E. University Drive.

While the first 101 people in line for the East Valley store’s Aug. 17 grand opening — doors open at 10 a.m. — will receive a free box combo, the local ownership group will also mark the occasion by presenting a $5,000 check to the Valley of the Sun United Way.

“As soon as we mentioned we were coming to Phoenix, people started asking, ‘When are you coming to Tempe?’ Well, here we are and we couldn’t be more excited,” said franchise co-owner Justin Micatrotto of Micatrotto Restaurant Group.

In addition to the 101 free meals, one customer in line will win Raising Cane’s for a full year. Members of the Arizona State University spirit squad and the school’s mascot, Sparky, will also be in attendance.
