Childsplay in Tempe received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support one of its upcoming productions.

Childsplay is one of 895 nonprofit organizations in the country to receive an NEA Art Works grant, with the Tempe-based organization receiving $20,000 to support a production of José Cruz Gonzalez’s “Super Cowgirl and Mighty Miracle.”

"Childsplay is thrilled to be working with the NEA on this wonderful piece," said Childsplay Artistic Director David Saar in a press release. "José Cruz Gonzalez has written a heartwarming story that is relevant to many young people and families today. We are excited to bring it to life on stage."

Performances are scheduled for March 22 through 30 at the Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe.
