Youths interested in Tempe’s free transit pass program can sign up at an event scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Road. The passes allow youths ages 6 to 18 to ride all Valley Metro bus routes and Metro light rail for free. The passes are available only to Tempe residents. A parent or guardian must accompany the youth and bring the youth’s birth certificate and proof of city residency to get a pass. Also, free passes are available at the Tempe Transit Store, 200 E. Fifth St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, visit www.tempe.gov/tim or call the transit store at (480) 858-2350.
