In an effort to stem the shortage of qualified building inspectors in Pinal County, Central Arizona College is offering a class that can help fill the void.

Current inspectors requiring certification by their employers or those wanting to start in the building inspection field can take the class.

The college’s International Building Code course will begin Jan. 15 and run on Tuesday evenings through May 6. The class meets from 6:10 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Central’s Coolidge Training & Assessment Center, 168 South Main St., Coolidge.

The three-credit class costs $253.15 for Arizona residents to cover tuition and the 2006 International Residential Code book.

The course instructor will provide dates and times for a voluntary test offered by the International Code Conference for building inspector certification. The cost of the examination is $155.

To register call (520) 494-5260. For more information, call (520) 494-6700.
