A dove hunter stumbled upon a pipe bomb in the desert near Queen Creek this week, according to Pinal County sheriff's reports.
Deputies responded after the hunter called 911 about 7 a.m. Monday. The device was made of galvanized metal capped on both ends, with a fuse sticking out of one end, said Vanessa White, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.
The Mesa Police Department bomb squad disabled the device and found gunpowder inside. The sheriff's office is investigating
