In August, 14-year-old Dustin Cote was mowing his family's lawn in San Tan Valley when he accidentally sliced off several of his fingers on his left hand. According to a news release, his hand had slipped while working with wet grass near the mower, causing it to slide under the blade.

To help with his medical expenses, the professional San Tan Leads group will host Family Fun Poker Night 6 to 11 p.m., Sept. 9 in the Mallorca Ballroom at Encanterra Country Club. Entry fee is $25 for adults and $10 for kids 17 and younger. The cost to buy into the poker tournament is $20.

The event will include family-oriented attractions such as a DJ, dance floor, Wii game consoles and lawn activities, as well as the poker tournament. Participants will also be able to purchase food and drinks through Encanterra.

Jerome Daniels, former Arizona Cardinals football player and current owner of A-Z Sports Camps, is scheduled to attend. Daniels also donated Cardinals tickets to the Cote family.

Tickets for Family Fun Poker Night at Encanterra can be purchased by calling San Tan Leads at (602) 443-0073 or at the door the night of the event. The group also is seeking prize donations from local businesses for both the poker tournament and a raffle.
