Repairs to a broken water main behind traffic restrictions in the San Tan Valley and Queen Creek area are progressing more quickly than planned, and all lanes of Hunt Highway are expected to be reopened by the weekend.
Pinal County Public Works crews conducted excavations to locate the source of the water line failure so it could be repaired to allow road surface repairs to begin.
The problem is on Hunt between Gary Road and Village Lane. It restricted north- and southbound traffic to a single lane in each direction.
Pinal County spokeswoman Heather Murphy says that although repairs are ahead of schedule, drivers should continue obey the speed limit, all posted signs and barricades while traveling through the area.
