Pumpkin & Chili Party

Now that summer is over, at least according to the calendar, it’s time to get back to enjoying the great outdoors. Schnepf Farms, 24810 S. Rittenhouse Road, will host its annual Pumpkin & Chili Party Thursdays through Sundays throughout October.

Now that summer is over, at least according to the calendar, it’s time to get back to enjoying the great outdoors. Schnepf Farms, 24810 S. Rittenhouse Road, will host its annual Pumpkin & Chili Party Thursdays through Sundays throughout October.

Festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. There will be rides, food, live music, games and fireworks. Admission is $14; children 2 and younger are admitted free. Queen Creek residents get in for half-price on Thursdays.

Horse show

Young people interested in horses will want to check out the Arizona Equine Youth & Career Fair 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre, 20464 E. Riggs Road. The event will feature breed showcases, educational demonstrations and interactive clinics on all aspects of horse care.

Numerous equine career presenters will be on hand to explain and answer questions about their specific lines of work.

Daily admission, which includes lunch, is $15, $5 for children younger than 5.

Freedom Motorcycle Benefit Ride

Motorcycle riders are invited to join in on a ride through the San Tan Mountains to help raise money for Freedom Christian Academy. Breakfast, lunch, a ride pin and raffle entry are all included in the ride fee.

Registration will be $20 for single riders and $30 for double riders. Registration begins 8 a.m. Saturday at Freedom Christian Academy, 39731 N. Kennedy Drive, with the ride leaving at 9:30 a.m.

Teen book group

Fans of local young adult author Janette Rallison will meet to discuss her books, socialize, enjoy snacks and activities. The group will meet from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Queen Creek Branch Library, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road.

Rallison will also teach a writing workshop for teens at the library from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 8.

Soccer league registration

The Barney Family Sports Complex is accepting sign-ups for teams and individuals who wish to take part in men’s or coed soccer leagues beginning Oct 5. Games will be played at night on Mondays or Fridays in the men’s league and Thursdays in the coed league. Teams must be made up of between six and 12 players.

League fees are $720 per team or $80 per individual.
