The Pinal County Attorney’s Office has decided not to file criminal charges in a case of a 16-year-old girl who says she was sexually assaulted by a Florence High School student.
The girl told police she was assaulted at a drinking party in the desert after a football game Oct. 26 by a 17-year-old player, Florence police Detective Walt Hunter said.
The Pinal County Attorney’s Office reviewed the case before deciding not to file charges, according to a news release issued Monday.
Based on the police investigation, prosecutors believe they would be unable to prove all elements of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt at trial, the release states.
