One of the many vacant big-box storefronts in west Mesa will come to life again as a box factory.

Arizona Corrugated Containers has bought the former Levitz furniture store at 225 S. Dobson Road, where it will invest $10 million in the 152,000-square-foot building.

The company makes custom-build boxes for the southern Arizona and northern Mexico markets and is owned by the California Box Company. It will employ about 20 to 24 employees, with a payroll of nearly $1 million.

The site falls within the city’s Enterprise Zone, which allows the box company to seek tax credits and property tax reductions.

The location on the displayed map is not the correct building. The Levitz building is the great big one just to the NE of the one that is marked.
