Mesa named the five men Tuesday who will be formally interviewed for the city manager position, including an internal candidate, a private sector employee and a Hispanic.
Following a national search, the City Council decided in closed session Monday to interview San Antonio Assistant City Manager Christopher Brady, Yuma County Administrator David Garcia, Aurora, Colo., City Manager Ronald Miller, Parsons senior vice president Larry Olsen and Mesa financial services manager Bryan Raines for the city’s top administrative post.
Mesa has scheduled a candidate tour for Sunday, with council interviews set for Monday. A community "meetand-greet" will be 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Mesa Convention Center, and the council will conduct second interviews with an undetermined number of finalists Nov. 8. An offer is expected to be made later that month.
Mesa City Manager Mike Hutchinson announced in May that he would retire at the end of the year after 28 years with the city. Californiabased CPS Executive Search, which was hired by the council, received 46 applications from 22 states.
