A man was hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries at Banner Gateway Medical Center after he told police he was stabbed in the chest Sunday by a man demanding all of his money.
The victim was walking in the 2700 block of Allred near Lindsay Road about 8:39 p.m. when he noticed a man on the other side of the street. The suspect crossed the street and threatened him by placing a kitchen knife over his shoulder and around his neck before demanding money, according to police.
After the victim told him he had no money and only a pack of cigarettes, he pushed the suspect and was stabbed in the chest, with the knife wound going all the way to his sternum, according to police.
The victim told police he passed out for about 10 minutes before he called authorities.
Officers could not find the suspect when they arrived on the scene.
