If your household income is under $50,000 and you need help preparing your tax return, now is the time to take advantage of Mesa United Way’s free tax-preparation service.

“March is the best time to get your taxes filed,” said Don Jensen, who coordinates the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Preparation program for Mesa United Way. “The initial February rush is over, and we’re ahead of the last-minute rush we see in April.”

Mesa’s VITA program includes six tax-preparation sites across the city manned by 80 specially trained volunteers who can help you get all the deductions and tax credits you’re entitled to, Jensen said.

For complete information on the program go to www.mesaunitedway.org and click “What’s New,” or call (480) 834-2113.
