The Mesa Convention & Visitors Bureau has named an interim president following the unexpected Oct. 21 death of longtime leader Robert Brinton. Milt Fort has most recently been marketing director and has worked in several positions alongside Brinton for 22 years.

Fort had recently launched a seventh-month marketing campaign with Allegiant Travel Company as part of the bureau’s effort to promote the 2011-12 winter travel season. The campaign focused on the 31 cities that Allegiant flies to nonstop from the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. Fort also has worked on several regional tourism campaigns.

Fort is board member on the Mesa Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and is active with the Perimeter Bicycling Association of America, the organization that operates the El Tour de Mesa event every April.
