A plan to close McDowell Road in Mesa from Power Road to west of Sossaman Road has been pushed back to June 9, according to city transportation officials.
The closure is for the construction of the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway and is expected to last four months. The closure was scheduled for this weekend.
The closure is expected to send much of the traffic in east Mesa to McKellips and Brown roads.
The construction involves building new bridges over the Central Arizona Project canals.
