The Superstition District Advisory Board has a meeting scheduled for Jan. 21 to discuss a program that has saved the City of Mesa thousands of dollars a year.

The Mesa Police Department’s Civilian Investigation Specialist, or CIS, program began in 2009 and has reduced the city’s budget by replacing officer salaries with a CIS specialist, as the latter is more than $30,000 less a year.

The meeting on the Jan. 21, scheduled for between 6 and 7 p.m. at the Superstition Station located at 2430 S. Ellsworth Road, will outline how the program works and what the specialists do. People should RSVP in advance for the meeting, as space is limited.
