A man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting four ROTC students at Mesa High School and then scuffling with jail detention officers.
Mesa police say 25-year-old Ceaser Ruben Meraz was taken into custody Wednesday night.
They announced Thursday that Meraz is being held on suspicion of four counts of misdemeanor assault. He's also facing one count each of disrupting an educational institution, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, aggravated assault on a peace officer and aggravated assault on a detention officer.
Police say Meraz is former Mesa High student who allegedly walked onto the campus about 6:40 a.m. Wednesday and assaulted the ROTC students and then left. The students weren't seriously injured.
They say Meraz admitted to assaulting the students because he "felt like getting into a fight."
