Northern Contours, a major manufacturer of home and office cabinetry, furniture and fixtures, is partnering with Mesa United Way to provide school supplies and food to children in the community. Company officials are urging other businesses in Mesa to forge similar partnerships to help people in need.
During August, employees at Northern Contours’ manufacturing facility in Mesa will have the opportunity to donate school supplies to United Way’s Helen’s Hope Chest. For each school supply donated, Northern Contours will donate $2 toward the Arizona Brainfood backpack program.
Arizona Brainfood feeds elementary school children each Friday by placing food in the backpacks of those who may otherwise go hungry over the weekend.
Helen’s Hope Chest helps foster children start off the school year positively and prepared. Donations from the community help provide children in kindergarten through grade 12 with new backpacks and the basic school supplies they’ll need for the year.
Northern Contours will present the donation check to Mesa United Way during its Annual Employee Appreciation Picnic in Mesa on Oct. 18.
Northern Contours is also participating in similar programs with United Way in Minnesota and Kentucky where additional manufacturing facilities are located. Partnering with United Way is a proven way for businesses and their employees to join forces to improve communities, Northern Contours officials stated in a news release.
Mesa United Way helps fund 46 programs administered by 28 non-profit charities that assist people of all ages.
