Five of seven illegal immigrants from Mexico arrested by Scottsdale and Mesa police — and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities — have been deported after a kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl, police said.

The other two men, accused of smuggling the girl to a man in Scottsdale who claimed she was his commonlaw wife, are in ICE custody and awaiting deportation, agency spokesman Russell Ahr said.

The arrests happened about 3 a.m. Wednesday at a home in the 100 block of North Sunaire Drive in Mesa, Ahr said.
