A Valley 16-year-old competed in the Pan American games and returned a multi-record holder.

Kaija Bramwell, a junior at Mesa Mountain View High School, traveled to Peru to compete in weight-lifting events in the Pan American games.

The junior lifted 332 pounds during the games. That's roughly three times her own body weight. She broke three American records in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total weight competitions.

Bramwell brought home a silver medal overall in the international competition.

"I thought I was gonna get maybe fourth on a good day, but got second, so that was good," she said.

Her weight class was the largest and most competitive at the Youth Pan Am Championship.
